Based on years of experience and research, we have found that various common plastics—such as food storage containers, toilet seats, air conditioners, toys, toothbrushes, and nearly all plastic items used in daily life—are now widely incorporated with plastic antimicrobial agents. Many people use these products without understanding their composition. Numerous factories have limited knowledge about antimicrobial agents; some have been producing plastics for years without fully grasping why these additives are necessary. Simply put, adding antimicrobial agents helps protect users from bacteria while significantly enhancing product value.
A common question is why antimicrobial agents are needed and which types should be used for specific materials. This is a fundamental issue. For instance, transparent plastics require appropriately transparent antimicrobial agents, while opaque ones need opaque variants. The operational process is relatively straightforward—simply follow the instructions for incorporation. Many also wonder how to confirm whether an antimicrobial agent is effective for their product and whether it meets desired outcomes. There's no need for concern here: you can conduct sampling tests using the antimicrobial agent and submit samples to authoritative third-party national institutions for verification. Data-driven results will clearly indicate effectiveness and performance.
ISO 22196 is a Japanese testing standard used to evaluate the antimicrobial performance of plastic products, including PP, PE, PET, PVC, PS, TPR, ABS, PA, PC, AS, and others. Plastic antimicrobial agents add a protective layer to the surface of these products, preventing bacterial contact with the human body and thus offering protection. Our antimicrobial agents can be applied to all types of plastic products. By selecting the appropriate agent for each plastic and following the correct methods and processes, excellent antimicrobial effects can be achieved.
This antimicrobial agent is heat-resistant and suitable for high-temperature material production. For ABS and ABS+PC molds, a mold temperature controller must be used during injection molding. After adding the antimicrobial agent, the barrel temperature can be set to the normal material processing temperature. For low-temperature materials such as PE, PP, PVC, TPR, rubber, and silicone, the barrel temperature should be reduced by 5-10°C. The hopper drying temperature should remain as per the material’s standard requirements. Injection molding parameters can follow normal settings, but with the antimicrobial agent added, the recommended screw backpressure is 5-20 kg. An addition ratio of 0.8% achieves up to 99% antimicrobial efficiency.
The new inorganic antimicrobial agent is a product made from silver ion compounds with strong bactericidal capabilities. It is a novel inorganic antimicrobial agent that combines safety and broad-spectrum effectiveness. Compared to previous organic bactericides, it offers higher heat resistance and safety, providing long-lasting antibacterial and antifungal effects across a wide range. Its particle size ranges from 0.11 to 0.12 micrometers and it is not suitable for transparent products. Recommended addition ratio: 0.6% to 1%.
